Waymo autonomous transportation companies and UPS shipping companies have expanded their partnership to include 8th grade trucks equipped with Waymo drivers. His partnership is between the UPS and Waymo through, divisions that focus on labor, and arrive on time for anticipated increase in shipping requests for the holiday season.
Waymo Via announced the expanded UPS partnership this week, called it “next natural step” in the relationship between the two companies. The new plan will first begin with a trial in Texas for the “next few weeks” and involves Waymo via the Autonomus 8 class truck that runs the Waymo 5 driver.
The trial will involve transporting transportation between UPS North American and Dallas-Fort Air Transport facilities. The trial will be used to “collect initial learning” about the use of autonomous driving technology class 8 Waymo on things like performance, how successful in providing goods, how it impects the efficiency and safety.
Waymo has spent years testing autonomic driving technology with UPS, even though it illustrates the partnership still in the “early days”. However, additional and more specific details about expanded partnerships are not provided, including how many autonomous trucks in grade 8 Waymo via will be used to bring transportation costs.
Although trucks are equipped with autonomous technology, they will not operate alone. Every Waymo through the vehicle will feature two humans, people who have SIMs and others who are trained as software technicians. The CDL driver will take over the operation when the truck is on the road besides the highway, according to a statement from Waymo to TechCrunch.
